Normally 4Chan is a cesspool of the worst online behavior collected in one place, every so often a nugget of wisdom manages to surface. There’s a saying, that “the left can’t meme”, and while it is a sweeping generality, it is mostly true. The thing is, no one ever tries to explain why “the left can’t meme”, but in this post from 4Chan someone does. Anon says:
It’s not the left can’t meme per say, it’s that their viewpoints rely on a carefully constructed denial of reality, to a far greater extent than any of the cults or religions they seek to supplant. This doesn’t lend itself to simple, easily conveyed messages, because if you rely on your viewers to see things as they are, without providing several layers of carefully selected context, they’ll interpret it the wrong way. The left can’t meme because memes are the antithesis of how they communicate.
If your messaging, requires it be viewed through a lens of other supporting agendas, it’s not something that is going to translate into a visual image that appeals to someone’s lizard brain.
